It is incredibly hard to believe...but our Landon turned 4 today!! (well, not actually until 11:59 tonight, but we didn't have the heart to tell him). He had a super day with daddy and Tanner including playing at home and t-ball practice - where he (and daddy) were the dirtiest ones - big shocker there! :) They came up to the hospital around 5:30 and visited with Gran
and me while Greg and Grandmommy decorated one of the conference rooms for a 4 year old party! We had a fun time complete with pizza, cake, balloons and presents! Truthfully, it was me being a little selfish...I didn't want his birthday to go by without getting to see him celebrate it and I wanted to see him open his family presents. As usual, he was spoiled...and although Greg and I were very excited about his new big boy bike (his legs were getting a little too long for the little one the twins shared and we're going to pass it down to Tanner - if the peanut's legs will ever grow long enough to reach the pedals!) - I think we could have stopped with his new batting gloves...he was so psyched about them! He also got several of the Cars movies cars, which miraculously weren't duplicates and a new train for his GeoTrax, a dump truck for the sandbox, a big Mack truck filled with matchboxes and a batting helmet. The mother load! I think he had a ball, but after 2 hours of festivities...we were all tired. Lisa had walked over to celebrate with us, but Scott stayed home with the kids who came down with strep. They are all on antibiotics in hopes that they will be healthy quick...it sounds like Bennett may be coming home faster than we expected.
Bennett is doing wonderfully! So far they can find nothing amiss. For a time he was having trouble with bottle feeds, but as soon as Lisa sent mommy-milk over, he ate like a champ. Not a lot, but much more than he was doing. There is a possibility that he may be transported back to Northside or Children's (across the street) b/c Grady's MRI machine that they use for babies is not working. Since this is a part of his treatment, there may be a way to justify bringing him back here...that would be wonderful! Mom and Dad went to visit Bennett this am and said that he was turning his head towards D when he would say his name. Mom also got an adorable video of him just doing what newborns do...he was just laying there moving those hands (trying to scratch his face, of course) and then at the very end he gave a little cry...it is like the sweetest music. I am dying to meet him!! Oh, and the pictures didn't lie...he does have the fattest little cheekers!!
Lisa seems to be improving, though still has some pain and is easily tired. She has run a temp a few times over the past few days and is back on antibiotics and we just continue to pray that she heals completely with no infection. Obviously, she is elated with the good news we continue to get about Bennett and is counting the hours til she gets to snuggle her newest!
That's all the news that fit to print...although, I have a correction to an earlier post...it wasn't "a friend" that recommended getting the web cam, it was Joe who explained to Greg all about it, and we will be forever grateful...it has been a wonderful treat! So thanks Joe... :)
We appreciate all the birthday messages and emails for Landon...I think he had a great 4th birthday...and we had fun watching him be so proud that "I used to be 3, but now I'm 4 because it's my birthday" (what he told anyone in the hospital who would listen). Thank you for your continued prayers and well wishes...you have blessed us more than you will know!
Love, Kristen, Greg, Tanner, P3 and the birthday boy, Landon!
